Merit-based Incentive Payment System
The Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) is one of two payment models implemented under the Quality Payment Program (QPP) by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Under MIPS, eligible clinicians are scored on performance by reporting data for four categories: Quality, Cost, Promoting Interoperability, and Improvement Activities.
An individual clinician or a group can expect to receive either a positive or negative payment adjustment from CMS based an overall score, and positive adjustments will prove more difficult to obtain as program requirements continue to evolve.
The Bienville Group partners with practices to address their current MIPS reporting techniques and to help identify strategies that maximize benefits from incentive programs, anticipate future challenges, and avoid possible penalties.
