Physician Quality Reporting System
In 2015, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) began applying a “negative payment adjustment” to physicians who fail to satisfactorily report data on quality measures for covered Medicare Physician Fee Schedule services furnished to Medicare Part B Beneficiaries. Additionally, satisfactorily reporting PQRS is the only way to protect your practice from the Value Based Payment Modifier program which now affects physician and non-physician practitioners.
Practitioners are asked to perform assessments, accounting, and informatics management for every patient encounter, with the threat of being penalized rather than reimbursed for extra duties they must perform in addition to caring for their patients. Additionally, PQRS implementation guidelines are constantly under revision.
The Bienville Group partners with practices to address their current PQRS reporting techniques and to identify strategies that maximize benefits from incentive programs, anticipate future challenges, and avoid possible penalties.
